As many may know, a documentary following the everyday life of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh is currently being shown in movie theatres across the globe and has recently been premiered at the London Film Festival.

Thay in Walk with me film

Walk With Me was filmed over three years, filmmakers were given unprecedented access and travelled the world with the monks and nuns. The documentary is an insight into life within a monastic community, capturing the daily routines of monks and nuns on a quest to develop a deep sense of presence.

Through intimate interviews and observational filming, Walk With Me, offers the deeply personal reasons why Thich Nhat Hanh’s monks and nuns decided to leave their families and follow in his footsteps.

The film is narrated by British Actor Benedict Cumberbatch, a follower of Thich Hhat Hanhs teachings, and who has previously spoken about how they have contributed to his success.

The film is an invitation for people to experience what mindfulness is. It follows the seasons of the Plum Village community and portrays monks and nuns who devote their whole lives to the art of mindful living. The directors have shot the film in a way that while you’re watching it you connect with something inside of you, this peace, this calm. The atmosphere of the movie theatre is transformed into that of a meditation hall.

A statement from film directors by Marc J. Francis and Max Pugh.

“We need more mindfulness and this film is a gift to the world to help us find our way home to a place of peace, love, understanding, and respect. If you share our vision and if you believe in the power of mindfulness to help create positive change in society, then please take this gift and make it shine like a bright star that will light you up inside and light up the community around you.”
